Materials Program Manager Requirement

JOB MISSION:
The Materials Program Manager's mission is to assure that all new product materials are ready and available to meet Apple's product ramp schedule requirements. This position reports directly to a WW Materials Business Manager.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Materials Program Manager is responsible for tracking and maintaining a matrix of long lead-time and critical materials. This includes the tracking of part release dates, second sourcing, contractual terms and conditions, and supply commits.
The MPM will work closely with the operations product manager, engineering design teams, and commodity management (Global Supply Manager -GSM) to develop plans and execute strategies that will enable a coordinated ramp schedule.The MPM will collect and maintain product and component matrix that ensures PVT phase success. Working with Board and/or FATP sites, the MPM will ensure that all materials are available to conduct the build per the project schedule.
The MPM will facilitate internal Apple materials readiness review meetings to review team preparedness, deliverables, and component status. This duty may include conducting or facilitating status of BOM readiness reviews to include all boards, systems, and in-box items during MRR meetings. The MPM will lead the material readiness (clear to build) exercises through the NPI cycle (includes materials activities through ramp of boards & systems). They are expected to highlight requirements for materials that cannot be supported by the CM.
Provides and presents specific materials input to product operations teams in Post Mortem meetings and to Business Operations in CM performance SCORecards.
TASKS CRITICAL TO POSITION:
I. CM (OEM) Procurement Readiness:
Drives the CM's capability to meet all Apple's planning and procurement execution processes, terms, and conditions; provides a CMs product teams assessment of specific competencies using prescribed checklist; verifies purchase order coverage of Apple's ramp plan and MPS; conducts conference calls with CM & FATP sites in order to review material readiness for ramp
(P.O. coverage in place); provides specific input into supplier scorecard for QBR.
II. Materials Readiness Review Facilitation:
Reviews CM purchase order coverage reports and highlights any critical to success issues and raises with GSMs as appropriate; Collects supply plan commits from GSMs in order to ensure that CM has most current sub-tier commitment; Collects and presents component release dates; Collects and presents component second source requirements; facilitates MRR meetings with an agenda, relevant documents, and keeps meetings on track; raises issues accordingly.
III. Clear-To-Build Management & Reporting:
Reviews and monitors the CM's materials commitment tied to both the NPI Build Plans and the current MPS; Highlights critical path materials in a cascading level of importance to meet schedule; Articulates issues and concerns through high level summaries, but can support with key details; presents this data to Apple management and executives.
IV. Materials Escalation Management:
Engage in supply escalations to ensure that any supplier or process related gaps are addressed with the CM; play an active part in driving rootcause and corrective action; provide an Apple presence on calls between CM and sub-tier suppliers (CM owns driving and leading meetings).
V. Excess & Obsolete Management & Reporting:
Review and monitor new product (ramp) excess and obsolete being reported by factories or due to engineering changes; takes, directs, or records specific actions to mitigate risks; provide management summaries and be prepared to present to management and/or executives accordingly; may drive process for final disposition of product (redistribute, reuse rework, or scrap).
VI. Product Disposition Support (part change implementation):
Work with product operations to coordinate key actions pertaining to the execution of part changes with the CM site or Supplier (GSM).

CRITICAL SUSTAINING SKILLS:
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Material planning/procurement experience
- Project or Program management experience
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities
- Excellent supplier management skills
- Excel, Powerpoint, Experience using ERP/MRP system
- Knowledge of BOM management systems
Normally requires BS/BA in Business plus atleast six years of experience.MBA plus related background is a plus
